Free Online TV

There's a ton of video content on the Internet, from YouTube clips of ridiculous cats to full-length TV episodes and movies. There are even television channels that broadcast online and can be viewed anywhere in the world.

This explosion in content was quickly followed by an explosion in software meant to wrangle all this video into one easily accessible place. Free Online TV is yet another competitor in this crowded field. Unfortunately, it suffers from some of the same drawbacks that many similar programs do, including numerous broken links to content.

Free Online TV has a basic Explorer-style interface. It comes preloaded with an assortment of online TV channels, and there's also space for users to add links to their favorite YouTube videos.

All of Free Online TV's content launches in VLC Media Player. Or it's supposed to, anyway; we had trouble getting content to load at all.

We got error messages from most of the TV channels, and those that did load displayed a distorted blur of lines instead of clear images. We couldn't get the program to work with YouTube at all.

The program's lack of documentation makes it virtually impossible to trouble-shoot malfunctions. There are plenty of other programs that do what Free Online TV tries to do, and actually do it well. We recommend you skip this troubled software and seek out something more functional.
Free Online TV installs politely but leaves a folder behind upon removal.
